For some reason my Christmas Spirit has gone. The darkness has been slowly creeping in. Have sent out many cards, the ones I have received I can count on one hand. Hearing from family and friends is very important. I am still an old fashion kind of gal where writing has not gone out of style. Remember when you got that last letter in the mail? How did that make you feel? When was that last message on Facebook that arrived? How did that make you feel? It makes you feel different doesn't it? A warm fuzzy feeling comes over a person when they get "Happy Mail" instead of the bills, advertisements, & basic junk mail that one finds in the mail box.
This afternoon while we were out I had a phone call from the office in our apartment complex. They said they had a pkg for me there. My first thought, this was Sunday! What could of been delivered on a Sunday? My pondering mind wanted to know! We returned home within the hour and stopped to pick up the package. Tara came out of the building with a big smile when she handed me the "box". The mystery was solved the minute I saw the box!! Excitement!! My "Card Kit" from The Stamps of Life arrived!! Anticipation every month about this time I get a "Card Kit"! Yes, I see what is in the box every month prior to it's arrival! That is good, as the excitement builds!! This month is no different than any other month! Now I can see in person what Stephanie has already told & shown us what will be sent! It is fantastic! This month covers Valentine's Day! I can now start on cards that have nothing to do with Christmas! Yippee!! This is Happy Mail above & beyond! I like most people love getting Happy Mail!
On FaceBook that was a message about an elderly lady that had fallen outside, she said her name to the person that helped her up. When she was asked why she was outside, she said that she had gone to the mail box in hopes of getting a Christmas Card in the mail. She was assisted the lady back into the facility. This was an Assisted Living Facility. She spoke to one of the caregivers, was told that many of the residents get all excited when the mail arrives. Than the smiles turn to frowns when no mail has their name on the envelope. The good samaritan asked if she could have a list of names and the mailing address. This is where "We" jump in. First names and the address were listed. The request was made, could we send a couple of extra cards to someone that lives in this facility. So I am asking my followers if they to will send someone from there a card. It would make them happy as well as yourself! I love giving! This is what makes me happy, I can make someone that is having a rough time happy as well!
Please go to a nursing home, assisted living or another place find out who would love to get some mail and send a card. You will be glad you did.

Bah Hum Bug
I am really a bit down in the dumps today.
Beautiful weather. No complaints there. The problem is here it is almost Christmas, and all of my decorations are back in Maine in a small storage unit... I don't want to go out and purchase more as I have plenty of ornaments all ready, just not here. Our son has given us a tree to use, it is pre-lit, so will be able to have a tree with lights.
I have sent out some Christmas Cards, sorry folks most of our cards this year will be store bought.
I have made a few homemade ones, but I am running out of time to make them all. This is the card I had designed. It may look simple, but is labor intensive. And costs 70 cents to mail one. I love you guys, I just can not afford to send you all one... The feathers were donated by our 2 resident swans, I collect the feathers from the ground when I take Lilia out.
So than I thought, I have the Crazy Bird dies & stamps and the Crazy Bird Things stamps, so will make a Christmas Card using one of the birds. 2 hours later.... Yes, it took me 2 hours to do this. The bird is popped up with Dimensionals. The eyes, wings, & beak were cut out using the dies, and those are popped up as well. The hat I had cut. I added Wink of Stella on the hat and bird. Used Perfect Pearls on the background and the Merry Christmas part. It is my Bah Humbug card...
I wonder which one of my friends is going to be the lucky one to receive it! Yes, only 1 of these.
Sunday I need to make some Peanut Butter Fudge for the 3 Maintenance Men and our Mail Man.

45 years!
45 years ago I met this sailor! What a handsome dude all decked out in his white uniform, and he had a mustache! My mother did not like men with hair on their face!! My mother wasn't dating him I was going to. I knew deep in my soul that this man was there for me! That was June 1970. Yes, I was smitten for sure. August 30, 1970 he asked to marry him. Of course I said yes! His mother asked him what date had he picked out? She didn't talk to me much at first.. He replied, how does December 5th sound? It sounded fine to me!
December 4th back 45 years ago there was a blizzard. He spent the night, couldn't get out onto the road, I was living way out in the boon docks in Winslow, Maine. (20 minutes to Waterville) Well back then it did seemed like hours to get to town.
On our wedding day we both had migraines. But the day was a bright sunning day! Got ready to leave as we had an hour's drive to Dover Foxcroft. We had another problem... We could not open the door to go out! It had snowed so much the day before that it was up to the eaves of that small house! Paul crawled out of a window in the kitchen to get to the front door. He shoveled out the front door, and also had to shovel out the driveway to get the car out. At that time he was driving a 1969 Firebird!
No cell phones back then, couldn't notify anyone that we would be late. My maid of honor, Carol Roberge, was stuck in Portland! Everything was shut down. Annette Little stepped up to the plate to be my maid of honor.... Robert Picher, Paul's cousin, was best man. We made it and go married. No special dress, I wore the white dress that my mother made me for my high school graduation the year before. I did have a small bouquet of red roses. No wedding cake. The only people that were there at the church to witness this big event was my mother, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, Paul's mother, 1 sister and 2 brothers. My Dad could not be invited as my mother did not want me to have anything to do with him. Thank God that I was able to have a Father/daughter relationship that to the day my mother died was not happy about it...
After the wedding, Robert, Annette, Paul and I drove to Webber's Steak House in Waterville for our reception dinner! Just the 4 of us were there, we didn't invite anyone else. It costs a lot of money back then, $10.00 for the 4 dinners.. I do not remember what I had to eat.
My mother came to the house the next day, came right and told me that I must of been pregnant to have to get married that fast. I knew I wasn't, told her so, but as always I was not to believed. Our first daughter, Michelle was born 7-22-1973. Mother also told me that it wouldn't last! We are still together. Tomorrow will be 45 years that we have been married! It seems like yesterday that we got together. And yes, my heart still does goes pitter patter when I see my Man!!

Topsy Turvey
Having had a migraine most of the day Friday, I went to bed fairly early 9:30 pm. Anyone that knows me, know anything before midnight is early.
At 1:30 this morning, I found myself on my knees. Now one would think that if a person is on their knees at the bed side that that person is saying their prayers and got there by choice.... wouldn't one think that? But in my case never think the normal for me... Nope I fell out of bed, how, I don't know. All I remember is in my dream I was climbing a very steep embankment, since I am not grace-full, I remember being on my knees trying desperately to climb to the top. I remember that someone had a hold of my ankles and pull me backwards. Now at that point my arms flared outward and I heard a crash, all of a sudden I heard Paul say, "Are you alright?" Woke up at that point, and found that my nightstand had lost my light, my glass of ice tea, and my glasses! I had fallen out of bed! My feet were tangled up in my blanket! At that point what can one do? I burst out laughing! No sense crying over spilled tea. Right? I didn't get hurt. I can certainly clean up my mess later. And there is Lilia looking down at me and most likely thinking why is Mom on the floor? Of course I had to say it, you know what it is that I am about to say, "I have fallen and I can't get up!" Than I start laughing again... Now at this point, I know I am not going to fall back to sleep because once one has done something amusing they are going to keep laughing!! One always feels better after a good laugh!
Well, my friends, have a wee bit of a chuckle at my expense and have a wonderful weekend!

Unpacking
As most of you know, we have moved 800+ miles from Maine to North Carolina. It was the biggest undertaking that we have ever done. My craft area consisted of the living room in a 3 room apartment of 571 square feet to an apartment of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and dining room are an open area... the square footage more than doubled in the new apartment. We are slowly unpacking, finding the right spot, and putting things away,
My new studio is 13' x 11'. I love my room! Now to get it to work for me. Just moving things and making it work!!

The Big Day!
Here it is October, my lands where did the summer go?
It was getting to the time that where we were living in North Berwick, Maine, my depression was getting worse. The owners of the apt. have a motto, "If you don't like it, Move!!" We were treated as if we were in assisted living, could not put anything on the window sills in the hall, everything had to be neat & tidy, etc.
Paul & I had talked about moving for the past 6 months. I put it into God's mighty hands, that if we were to move than an apartment would be available October 8th in Greensboro, North Carolina. God is so good. It was to be. An apartment came available within 3 weeks of looking. On September 7th we gave the apartment manager our 30 day notice of moving. Then we started to pack.... :( We have never in 45 years been organized... Who would think that would be important? We labeled the boxes, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, & Crafts!!
I think 90% of the boxes are labeled crafts!
Paul rented a 26' Penske truck while I got to drive the pickup.... With the help of Seth & Lance we finally were able to get everything loaded into the 2 trucks. We left on October 8th. Lilia rode shotgun with me, Paul drove the big truck. We were exhausted as it took 3 days to load the trucks.
We stopped in New Hampshire to fill the trucks with fuel. Had supper at the truck stop, it was very good, who knew that fried chicken would be so tasty...
Paul bought me a new frog for our new apartment! This frog opens up and has a small place to put something in it. Very blingy as well! Every girl loves bling right?
Than we were off. Over the next 24 hours we drove. (This is usually only a 14 hour trip). We ran into construction, stop and go for miles on end, had to stop for gas, bathroom breaks, meals etc. I also had to stop for naps 3 times. God was certainly with me as a few times I know my eyes shut, yes while driving... I can dose in the truck with the seat pushed back....seat would not tilt back as there was to much stuff!! Friday afternoon we ran into another delay, 4 vehicle pile up on the south bound side and 2 vehicles on the north bound side. Very slow going. By Friday afternoon around 5 pm we stopped just North of Roanoke, NC at the Cracker Barrel for supper.... I had had it. Lilia had had it, I so needed a "Snickers" bar at that point. I told Paul that we were done for the day... this was at the 26 hour mark.... We spent the night at the Red Roof Inn. They had a room available with 2 double beds. We took it!! By 8 pm all 3 of us were out for the night...
Saturday morning we were up at 5:30 am at 7:30 am we were on the road again. 2 hours later we arrived at our destination, Bridford Lake Circle apartments!!! They opened at 10 am. By noon time we were done with all the paperwork...
The apartment is beautiful!! There is a sun room that we now have 2 rocking chairs in front of the windows. Living room, kitchen, master bedroom, & best of all a room for my "studio", 2 bathrooms. What more do we want? Nothing. This is fantastic! We doubled the size of living space.
3 pm the guys from 2 men & a truck, plus one other guy arrived to help unload the trucks. By this time the Heavens opened up and a soft rain started to fall. Didn't care! I ordered pizza and one of the guys, Kevin, (thank you) gave me a ride to pick up the pizza. 5 hours from start to finish we were unloaded and totally exhausted... Thanks go to Kevin, John, & Branden for doing a wonderful job!! We could not of done it without them.

Pondering!
As I sit here and ponder, I notice that I have a lot of packing left to do!
Yes, it is final! We are moving! In 20 more days we will be on the road starting a new adventure.
We will be moving to Greensboro, NC. We want to be nearer to our son and daughter-in-law.
Most likely we will see our daughter Nicole, more as when she goes on vacation she also heads south.
Paul and I in 46 years that we have been together, have always lived in Maine. In our childhood, I know I have lived in Conn for a short time and he lived in Chicago for a short time. Neither of us had ever thought we would move out of state. Here we are getting the packing done and moving.
It has been a whirl wind, getting boxes, packing, taping, & labeling. Yes, I said labeling....
The only boxes that do not need a label are the ones that say Stampin Up on them... Those are what I am using for my Craft stuff. You don't realize just how much you have till you start packing it. This move I am not using bags like the last time. We hope to be out of here early morning of Oct. 8th.
Once we are in our new apartment I will mail out our new address to those that would like it.

Eye Have Had It!
For 3 days I have been dealing with my right eye feeling like a log was lodge in.... Not having a good time, trying to prep for 2nd Mini Album Class, for next week.
Called the eye doctor, he is in surgery, the office girl said, "Can you be here by 1pm?" Yes, miss I can! 2 hour drive to see the eye doctor... I have been going to this eye doctor for over 20 years, what is a 2 hour drive to see him..... I see My doctor's partner, have a stitch popped from the surgery I had done last May. No big deal...After he tried to get it, he tells me he can't get it. beyond his expertise. Can I come back in an hour to see my doctor. You bet I can...not driving 2 hours to home and than go back to the hospital in the morning. Not going to happen. Paul, Lilia & I went to Subway for a sandwich. Lilia, my service dog, did so well we stopped at the ice cream window conveniently located next to Subway and got her a doggy cone....soft serve with a doggy biscuit on top. She was happy. She loves ice cream! Go back to the doctor's. Numbs my eye and I can feel him going after the stitch. Told him it was hurting, so he put more drops in. Took only a minute for him to remove the bothersome stitch!! Eye feels good...at the moment....
Paul only wants to go home it is now 3 pm... After gassing the car up we head home. Arrived at 5:30 pm and the phone rings at 5:45 pm. The girl says to me, "tell me you are on the way here for class?"
Told her I thought the class was for the 24th...I am all mixed up now. I would not be able to get there tonight. My eye has come back from the land of happy numbness and it is not feeling so great... She is not happy. Well, I am not happy either... Class is a bust. I have the kits all made up. Life happens.
So that is how my day has gone so far... Hope your day was much better!

Directions on Mini Album
Surprisingly the Mini Album class went very well last Thursday! Had 7 students that were all happy with their finished albums. Now starting to set up the second Mini Album Class for the Kennebunk Free Library for the 24th. Have made a new Mini Album to be shown to the class. Have to finish the front cover! Have gone over the directions and changed some of the measurements for the covers.....I think now the directions are complete!

Then follow
directions on Envelope punch board!
Seal all 6 envelopes
with adhesive of your choice!
Trim a sliver off top
edge (or end) of envelopes – This forms the pocket.

All packed up!
I have finally finished with getting everything all packed for the mini album class that I will be teaching tomorrow. Hopefully I will find my eye glasses case that have disappeared this afternoon.... I at least know where my glasses are... Not unusual for me to loose something without even leaving my chair!!
My next big project is a Stampin' Up workshop that will happen on July 25th! My friend Alaska called and set up a date. She asked if we could do something different than the old card standby...
We will be doing a Flip Top Card! Will post it when I have one completed... Still working on that project...
Maybe at some point I can squeeze in some water coloring with my Distress Inks! Have the Watercolor card-stock and the inks! Now to find the time...

Envelopes!
Today I have picked out the paper for an up coming class at the Kennebunk Free Library.
I will be teaching them how to make a mini album using envelopes. The director wants me to do this class in 1.5 hrs. I don't see it happening unless I do every thing for them. There is no way that I am going to have 6 envelopes per person, 8 people in the class, all cute, scored, and put together. What is the sense of a class if you don't get to do some of it your self? So I have decided to have the paper all cut and scored they can put it together. The white cardstock will be cut, they will have to use the border punch for the edging. This is going to be at min 2-2.5 hr class easily.
I am doing this class at no cost to them. I do a couple of classes like this every year. My way of giving it back, paying it forward, etc. It is a feel good type of thing until they ask more out of me than I care to give....
I had some stray papers in my stash, so have made 4 envelopes from them. It is amazing the paper I have stashed away. The paper stack is DCWV The Spring & Summer Stack! 180 sheets of cool paper for envelopes. They are soft pastels for colors. This what I am going to be using for the class.

Mini Album
I am so excited this afternoon! Just opened my e-mail and there was a message from Deborah Laffitte! She had made my Mini Album and posted photos!
Didn't she do an awesome job! I so love the paper she chose to do it in! Thank you Deborah for sharing your album with me!

Fun Fold Card
Have you made a Fun Fold Card? I started to work on one, inked up my stamp and stamped away....
Oh my goodness, I couldn't get that stamp to take up the ink! First thing I do is wash the stamp, check the ink pad for any thing sticking to it.... How that would happen to a brand new ink pad I do not know.... Than on went the "cheaters", really too a look at the stamp. Now this is a new stamp set from Stampin' Up.... Awesomely Artistic! I love this set. The stamps are made to look artistic... The dragonfly is not perfect, The ferns are not perfect... the stamps are suppose to look imperfect! That is why it is Awesomely Artistic!! I know sometimes it just takes me a while to get it!
I have finished the card and I love it! But, can not show it to you until this person receives it!
So have a wonderful night and I will see what I come up with tomorrow on a new project!

Started to look for a template on line for these little tissue boxes. First bunch that I made, I gave them out at the Standish Family Practice to all that work there... A nice bunch of folks!
